What is Battle net

A few rules for multiplayer mode make the experience a lot better for all involved. First up and probably the most important is manners. Everyone is there to have fun. Everyone wants to play Diablo. If you want to talk like some

133+ little punk then go elsewhere. The Diablo series works extremely well co-operatively and respectfully. People want to play together, not kill Newbies. Secondly, you'll find a party to work with, no problems, but offer your services appropriately. You might indeed have the baddest Ice Sorceress ever invented by humanity, but that won't be of much interest to some groups. Thirdly, co-operation is the name of the game. You are here to work with people.

lfyou aren't already a keen online gamer, Diablo is probably the best place to start. With a strong online community and fanbase you'll have no problem getting into good games with characters at your level.

Simply go through the Battle.net facilities on the main menu and

you are ready to go. This is as simple as creating a new character on the Realm they exist in. The Realm is simply the server your character is stored on. First thing is to have a character that people will want to play with. That doesn't mean that you'll need to be a level 50 Druid. It does mean that you'll need a few levels under your belt. Most of the online gamers have played the game over and over and rarely want to start out with new characters again. You might want to complete the game by yourself at first to get to a pleasing level.

Have a wander around the place to see if there are games you'd like to join, the kind of lag you have to worry about, just to get a feel for the whole thing. Have a chat with the locals.

Browse through the different channels, which are topic/class specific, and then simply start chatting away. Have a look at game running times, character levels and all the rest. When you've found something you like, hit the Join function and Robert's your father's bother.

A basic party set-up should be two Barbarians, one of whom uses a lot of leap and double weapons attacks, another who specialises as a tank. A Sorceress and an Amazon, at least one each, are mandatory. Without covering fire you'll find yourself in big trouble really quickly. Of course, a Paladin is a total must. They provide a party cohesiveness that is second to none. A Necromancer sometimes is more trouble than they are worth. Not to slight this class but having 10 minions walking around claustrophobic crypts can make combat hell. Mind you, an all-Necromancer party is a sight to see.

One of your big problems in multiplayer mode is lag. Basically, your connection falls behind and there is a delay between what you see and what is truly going on. With the delay you'll quickly run into all sorts of lethal situations. You are always shooting at or planning for what isn't there. Sometimes you will get lag if there are a lot of people on the network. Nothing to be done about this. If you are having recurring problems with

lag, check your Internet connection to make sure it is running at a steady pace. If the game keeps speeding up then slowing down, you probably have this problem. Still having problems means you should check your loading delay. lfyou takeaWaypointintoa new area and find yourselfwaiting a few seconds until you can see and move in the new area, you may need to upgrade your graphics card. Graphics and (PU are also culprits, but it's more commonly the video card that is causing the lag.

A final word on multiplayer gaming about cheating. Using Dupes (items duplicated, or created many times through exploitation of game bugs), hacks, cracks, server crashing, or whatever is one thing when you do iton yourown in singleplayer mode, but when it comes to doing it on Battle.net, don't do it. Please. You spoil it for all the thousands of people that just want to get on and kill evil. Blizzard Entertainment, the creators of the Diablo series, are very serious about hacks and cheats and they will catch you. +
